Chefs Night Out

I am excited to announce that I have been chosen to participate in Chefs Night Out on November 21, 2013. The event, hosted by CS Interiors Magazine and International Interior Design Association, pairs interior designers and restaurants in a competition to showcase great food and great design. I have been matched with the Florentine, an restaurant in the Loop known for its "elegant yet accessible interpretation of seasonal Italian cuisine."

Does Rococo Still Have a Role?

Rococo style from the era of Louis XV is historically important as it is associated with emergence of interior design as a discipline distinct from architecture. With its frilly ornamentation, gilt finishes, and airy feel, does it still have a role today?

Monochromatic Color Schemes

Monochromatic color schemes are often maligned and frequently misunderstood. Some people think that they can only involve neutrals. Others think that the selected color is the only option for the entire space. However, a monochromatic scheme can be quite interesting if a variety of shades are used, even peppering in some neutrals too. It is critical to mix up the textures to create interest. However, if done poorly, the space can come off as boring or garish.

How do you feel about monochromatic spaces?
